Hello, there. Welcome to the official rules/guidelines for the Phantom Grapple Tournament, where fan-made heroes and villains will collide to prove who's the strongest fighter.

[Takes place a year after the events in "Phantom Planet"] Amity Park is in the middle of the worst ghostly invasion since Pariah Dark's reign of terror. Ghosts-- and even humans who don't like the way things are being run since Danny Fenton/Phantom became an international figure-- are aiming to destroy Phantom once and for all so they can then take over the human world.

Since there aren't enough forces to stop them, the renowned ghost boy is enlisting all kinds of help from around the world --and beyond--, all while attempting to keep things from going out of control.

The question that now remains is... which side will you be on?




• To enter, you'll have to submit a "recruitment" entry, which means you'll have to draw or write [more about mediums below] how your character became involved in the tournament. Did a canon character ask him/her to come? Was there a mistake? Was some other force involved? Tell us your story!

• Once all the participants have officially signed up, villains will be paired up to battle against heroes [or vice versa]. This will require you to draw or write [again, more about mediums below] said battle from your character's perspective, meaning you'll have to show us how your character defeated his/her opponent. The character with the best entry [more about judging later] will win and pass to the next round.

• The winner of the whole tournament will then fight against an opposite canon character of their choice [more about-- oh, just keep reading ]




• Anyone can enter. It doesn't matter if you're not a Danny Phantom fan, though it is preferred, since that's the main focus of the whole tournament. Just as long as you get the hang of the story and follow these guidelines, you're more than welcome to enter.

• Only original characters are allowed. Alternate versions of canon characters will be taken into consideration as long as they are well justified.

• Both villains and heroes are welcome. Your objective will consist on defeating the opposing side.

• You may enter up to four [4] characters to compete: up to two heroes and two villains [each separately. For team-ups and cameos check the following section]. This will give you more chances of winning but you'll have to work just as hard for each entry. It's up to you ^^

• You may work with another artist. Example: one of you writes and the other one draws. However, this will mean the prize will be divided between the number of artists involved behind an entry, unless either of you decide to donate your part of the prize to your partner.



• You may film a video, draw a comic, write a fanfic, animate a cartoon, record a narrated battle... yeah, you get the picture: any medium is allowed as long as it depicts a whole battle. "Snapshots" or single "frames" would be considered insufficient. Some length parameters [approximately]:
º Fanfics: at least 3,000 words long.
º Comics: at least 6 panels, with or without color.
º Film/Animation/Audio: at least 1 minute long.

• No mature content will be allowed. If you wish to discuss any exception that might be justified, feel free to note me.

• In your entries, you may have sidekicks, cameo appearances, or brief team-ups with contestants already out of the competition. Sidekicks and Team-ups can just help during a portion of the battle, so they should have minimal involvement in the outcome. Yes, you may ask for more info about this since it's in loose terms.

• Your character may have whatever power or equipment you want but they have to be specified in the description for the "recruitment" entry.




• Each stage/round will last between three weeks and a month.

• If you fail to submit your entry on time, your opponent will win by default. If both participants fail, they'll both be out of the tournament.

• Extensios will be considered depending the case. If you wish to request more time for your entry, you'll have to note me about it, explain your situation, and we'll see what we can work out.




• The winners for each round will be announced a week after the deadline.

• These winners will be decided by two means:
º Voting
º Judging [by moi]
[Number of votes + number of judging points = a winner!11!ONEZ]

• Voting will last only five days, so you'll have to be quick! [where and how to vote will be announced when the time comes].

• Judging will consist on the following points:
º Creativity [originality, medium used or how it's used, etc.]
º Development [how much plot, twists, and turns you put into your entry]
º Effort [self-explained]
º Involvement [these are bonus secret points that I might or might not explain some day ^^]

I won't get technical [that's out of proportion! spelling horror! D:] but I will consider other aspects that might pass unnoticed by the voters. Like how much you compliment me in your entry's description [just kidding xD you'll get less points for that D:]



• If one side has more participants than the other [Example: more heroes than villains], you'll be paired up to fight a random villain or hero from the show. Voting for these kind of battles will be different: instead of voting for which one you liked the most, you'll vote "WIN" or "LOSE". If there are more "wins" than "loses", you win and pass to the next round. If not, you'll lose the round.

• If you start bashing another contestant, you'll be immediately disqualified.

• There will be no draws. Just in case




• FIRST PLACE •
º A 1-year subscription or DA merchandise worth as much.
º A comic/fanfic [depending on the winner's choice] in which their OC fights a DP character of their choice.

• SECOND PLACE •
º A 6-month subscription or DA merchandise worth as much.
º A request picture or one-shot.


If anyone else wishes to contribute with any other prize, you're more than welcome! Just note me ^^



• People who don't want to participate in the tournament can still compete and win other prizes. More info about this will be posted as soon as the first round is announced, though it basically consists on artwork depicting one of the matches or fanart for one of the contestants. Again, details to come later ^^
